Presented by BullHorn Loud Speakers.
Congratulations to the 2022 DFFL Bowl V Champions, Jerry's World Wonder (JWW)!
**While a MNF tragedy (prayers to Damar Hamlin!) prevents "kick his ass sea" Bass from getting his 100points for DNF...(YEAH RIGHT!!), it is HIGHLY unlikely that Bass' negligible points will make any real or even a DNF-fantasy-dream of a difference in the final score.**
The sponsor of this game has no idea how appropriate they were in presenting this game and thus the winner in 2022. If there is someone who knows how to use, and when to use, a bullhorn it is the Wonder owner, Brian Dembinski! If he wasn't the loudest mouth in the room prior to Week 17, he most certainly will be from this day forth!
The Wonder officially becomes the 4th DFFL owner to have the Players Cup grace the halls of his McMansion. He will soon get that smug look of "I'm the best" each and every time he looks up and sees that beautiful, magnificent Players Cup Trophy with his team's logo-etched stein sitting atop. DFFL is truly in new territory with this new league winner. While RAF made every reasonable attempt to remind the league of his truly mind-blowing and spectacular repeat wins in 2018 and 2019, he stopped short often - the humble soul in him unwilling to be too melodramatic with his stupendous accomplishments..ahem..i digress..
Anyway, DFFL is getting a glimpse of this new era we are embarking on with JWW changing his Sleeper handle to "DFFLsTEAM". #FacePalm Within seconds of this change, JWW reminded league owners of how they actually helped create this new champion, and will ultimately only have themselves to blame for any subsequent and incessant bragging. The NERVE!! We will see to what extent JWW traverses the off season and each, unbearable week of the 2023 season. May those of us who aren't affiliated with the JWW Franchise endure this difficult and condescending period!
DFFL BOWL V PLAYER DYNAMICS
What is there to say about the anatomy of this JWW victory? Not a lot honestly. One team came to play, and really put up numbers that almost beat his Week 15 Wonder Bowl performance against KED. JWW put up over 177 points, his 3rd best of the 2022 season!
The other team, DNF, put up such shameful numbers for a DFFL bowl game. Never before in DFFL history has any team put up such dismal numbers in any playoff (OR CONSOLATION BRACKET!) game, with the exception of QB-less DMM in Week 16! DNF's 80 (87 if Bass ever plays) points in Week 17 DFFL BOWL V are truly disappointing; particularly when you look at who's on his roster (second most DFFL Top 5 fantasy players of 2022 Regular Season). Remarkable! One for the misery history books. Had DNF started Aaron Rodgers (22) over TrevLaw (9), he would have come close to beating DFFL TOILET BOWL IV King's, CAB (95.8), score.
Enough about DFFL's 2022 2nd Place and RunnerUp team. JWW's superior squad put up fantasy inspiring numbers in this year's championship game. Jared Goff WAS the right QB to play, bringing in almost 35 points. Austin Ekeler provided over 35 points and certainly earned every dollar the Wonder put into his contract. Rookie Tyler Allgeier played an inspirational 22 point game, and last but not least.....Mike Evans CAME THROUGH!! (Um, in a big way!). His 46.7 points were his career best! It's as if he heard all of us fantasy naysayers (Of which RAF was one of the biggest), and put up a performance like none other. Amazing! I'll not bad mouth Evans again - he is quite literally a League Winner!
The only real disappointments on JWW's squad were Engram and Cook. Dalvin Cook became a big disappointment in this game. Seven fantasy points doth not a franchise player make. Evan Engram was subpar compared to past performances, but it worked out in JWW's favor as any improvement would have been to his opponent's potential equal benefit.
As for the other team members, Lockett was hurt, and honestly, how many catches did we expect him to get with hand damage? His primary role was likely to pull defenders off Metcalf - arguably this is SeaHag's normal strategy anyway. Finally, Zeke! Zeke is once again on a Championship roster; 3 of the past 5 championships were earned with Ezekiel Elliot on the field. He didn't do terribly as far as production. Again, had these guys played to full projections, JWW would have had a historic DFFL Bowl win in all likelihood. Particularly when you consider, once again, Mike Evans' perfomance #HeadExplosion .
As for the DFFL RunnerUp, there isn't much to say that doesn't include the theme of disappointing and frustrating. His team, decimated by injury, did not get any help from the likes of Justin Jefferson - one of the best WRs in the NFL, let alone fantasy. JJ got 3 points! Three POINTS! This is his worse performance.....EVER! Secondly, Miles Sanders, who only brought in 8 points with Minshew! as his QB. One might have assessed a lean on the run or RPO game that would have improved Sanders' numbers; but no. I'll only mention one other name, because his DFFL contract price is no where near his performance as a fantasy player. Five Point Five. This is Diontae Johnson's fantasy points on DNF's team in Week 17. He was targeted 7 times....and caught 2 of 'em for a total of 35 yards. Tough sledding. #smh #worstplayerever #etc .
CONGRATULATIONS!!
Both JWW and DNF deserve a ton of respect for traversing this very difficult fantasy year, and getting to the big game! DFFL is not a league for the fantasy feint of heart. This league is the real deal. So much so, that RAF departed the pattern on every league he was in just to focus on beating DFFL owners. Any team that gets into the playoffs deserves KUDOS, and any team to finish in Top 2 are truly teams to admire...I mean that in all sincerity.
Solid win to Jerry's World Wonder! Great year-long competition and perseverance by Dy'Nasty Fan'Tasy!
