In a difficult week for the NFL and player safety, DFFL's Lottery Bowl team's Cincinnati and Buffalo players were unable to finish the 1st Quarter of play. It is what it is from a fantasy perspective, and the safety and health of Damar Hamlin is truly what matters, of course.
However, the winner of this bowl was truly never in doubt. As the stats ticked up in the 1st quarter for 2 in 3 of UGG's championship-making players, the writing was on the wall. Indeed it's likely that the very tragic turn of events in this week's MNF game prevented a royal shellacking of RAF in the final score.
UGG (12-2) is the 2022 DFFL Lottery Bowl Champion and thus DFFL's Third Place winner and $100 richer.
UGG's starting lineup in the Lottery Bowl were dudes that struck fear in the hearts of every owner each game of the season when it came time for them to step into the rink on opposing side. Joe Burrow is simply a QB fantasy point making stud. He's fearless. Not even the Darth Vader glare from Mr. Curmudgeon himself could affect Joe Cool's performance last week against NE. This week was expected to be even more of a fantasy onslaught for the Cincy QB. Davante Adams showed that it truly doesn't matter who is throwing to him, pulling in over 32 points against San Francisco's stiff defense. #respect . UGG played the solid Eagles Defense (though Eagles lost - good for Cowboys' fans). We all know that Ja'Marr Chase was on his way to a 100yd, two TD game before the untimely end to MNF.
On the other side, RAF mostly stuck with what brought him to the playoffs in the first place. Patrick Mahomes was a no-brainer at QB and did him a solid 38+ points. Tyler Conklin at TE actually had one of his best performances of the year. Jerick McKinnon came on in a special way, getting 22 points, and RAF's "shrewd" decision to pick up and start no-face, rookie Rashid Shaheed, who picked up 17 points (well over projections), truly made the Fitz a happy man. However, RAF was really not able to keep pace with UGG's DFFL Top 5 Fantasy-laced juggernaut team.
Huge BZ! to both teams for a 2022 DFFL Season for the record books. As mentioned in the Lottery Bowl Preview last week, both teams come away with many positives for the 2023 season. Most significantly, UGG is bringing much of the team that buoyed his success this year, and RAF is bringing Mahomes and a 2023 first round pick.
