Tyson Award. Nite, Nite! Thleep Tight!
- PTS (1) stepped into the rink in Week 2 and lit RAF up in a 138 – 106 victory; knocking RAF out in a 32-point blowout. Congrats to PTS, as he stands alone at 2-0 atop the HOPS DIVISION.

Cliffhanger Award. By the skin of your teeth and newly discovered hair loss!
- NUT (1) barely got by DNF this week with a 168.9 – 160.14 victory. The difference, only 8.76 points! Lots of close ones in Week 2. Honorable mentions go to TIU and CAB for winning by less than 10 points. NUT sits atop MALT DIVISION at 2-0.

Maguire Award. Show me the Money!
- TIU (1) gets the $30 Bank for manufacturing a 184.06-point production from his 10 starters. 6 of them blew past Sleeper projections for the week. The win falls about 8 points short of last week’s total points for TMW, but scoring was still up overall this week in DFFL.

Meme Award. When your best isn’t good enough, but makes for great jokes!
- RAF (1) brings home a MEME in Week 2. Dragging his squad across the Century Mark was all RAF could do this week, managing a meager 106 points. Two weeks into the season and HOPS DIV has bought all the shares of this tormenting and unforgiving award.

Shamrock Award. I found me 4-leaf clover, and though small, I be a winner!
- PTS (1) gets a lucky SHAMROCK in Week 2 for lowest winning score at 138.02. Highlighting how poorly RAF did this week, the lowest score winner in DFFL also earned the TYSON. I’m not sure this has ever happened before and it may warrant closer tracking. For now, I’m adding a category to this award called TY-SHAM; highlighting the anomalous nature of blowing someone out of the water while achieving the lowest winning score.

Red Shirt Award. Starfleet security officer taking one for CAPT Kirk.
- KED (1) brought his A-Game in Week 2; well sorta…he left the A-QB on the bench…and scored the highest losing score in DFFL this week. At 174.94, KED blew past last week’s winner (DMM) by almost 20 points. Unfortunately, like last week, the Top Scorer in Week 2, TIU (CAPT Kirk), decided to venture down to Planet WekeThu with KED. When KED’s Rookie QB (20) nose-dived into the Sanders (6), it left no one to back him up when TIU got into some Mattison (4). KED stepped in front of TIU, yelling, “It’s OKAY! I see the mess you’re in. Just get back to the choppah!” And with that, KED’s fate was sealed. RED SHIRT in the Hall of Misfortunate Fantasy Ventures.

Mojo Award. “Yeah, Baby!” Best pickup or start/sit decisions.
- NUT (1) gets the Week 2 MOJO Award with his start of DALLAS DEF/S (19). This was not easy, but the only significant pick-up and start decisions were by losing teams. All other starter choices were just not impactful enough given who was benched in their place. I feel confident in affording NUT this award as he is 2-0 and making a ton of moves (including a trade for the #2 RB in the NFL – Kyren Williams). That move follows Week 2 activities however. Just the same, COWBOYS have been putting up QB-like fantasy points and are worth a start and forget in most weeks – this was one of ‘em.

Noonan Award. “Best Ball Award”...na-na-na-na-naaaa!.
- MTT (1) earns this week’s NOONON Award with his benching of #4 QB in the league, Russell Wilson (40) at home against the Commies. Instead, MTT started for a second-straight week the #24 QB in the league, Ryan Tannehill (27) whose point total for 2-weeks combined fell short of DangerRuss’ Week 2 totals. Had MTT started Russ, he would have gone on to beat CAB and prevented an 0-2 start to the ’23 season.

Deck Chairs Award. First Class or Steerage? All equally suck on Titanic! (Durham Smythe, McPherson, Aubrey, Justice Hill, Kendrick Bourne…
- DNF (1) snagged a Deck Chair from his Taxi Squad (Jonathon Mingo 5 of 8) and placed him on the poop deck. The concept was fairly straight forward. Mingo would man the deck in place of ISM (2 of 0) and prevent the money shot from NUT. Turns out, Mingo had the guns turned the wrong way – rookie move. When NUT spent his last shot, Mingo fired…into the bridge…taking out CAPT Kirk (The DFFL one, not the StarFleet One). Nothing could be heard as DNF floundered beneath the murky waters of Irrelevancy Bay… glub, glub, glub ..!

Week 2 shaped up to be a tough week for many DFFL owners! Some are sitting pretty atop their divisions with much to be thankful for, and much to look forward to. Others are facing an uphill climb in their divisions with little hope outside making some trades and/or hoping for the Injury Bug to claim the division leaders. We are still early in the season, but the fantasy relevant players are starting to show who their colors (Puka, Kyren, Justin, Kirk…etc.). The fantasy frustrating players also are reflecting their true selves (TLaw, Cam, AJ, Van…etc.). Good Luck in Week 3!!
