!!CONGRATULATIONS NUT ON GETTING HIGH SCORE FOR WEEK EIGHT!!

MANTLE OF MAGNIFICENCE

NUT remains the only undefeated DFFL team so far this year! KED and MTT have strung together 5 and 4 wins in a row, respectively. This is quite impressive! UGG is the only losing record team in the MoM this week after an impressive close win against The Toe. UGG and MTT got everything they asked for as far as expected production from their starters this week. Big KUDOS! PTS eked by this week, despite terrible sit/start decisions, and TMW got a break with essentially a BYE week victory over Meme Awardee, RAF. Congrats y'all....:

(NUT(8-0)⭐⭐⭐⭐🤺), (PTS (6-2)⭐⭐🤺), (TMW (5-3)⭐⭐⭐⭐🏈🤺), (UGG(3-5)⭐), (KED(5-3) ⭐), and (MTT(4-4)⭐🏈) in order of points scored.

CELLAR OF SHAME

JWW remains winless, as the Winless Wonder has essentially blown past the the economic term (in this case fantasy value), Diminishing Returns, which describes a point in which smaller benefit is derived from the money/effort invested. The hunt for picks should stop, but he's been on a roll since Week 2. DNF fitted the Cellar with a jacuzzi, and this week with his 4th straight loss, intends to bathe non-stop to get his mind off the reality of a terrifyingly horrid team with zilch depth. TIU is here in the CoS a third straight week, and was seen earlier today roaming the tunnels mumbling incoherently, occasionally shouting, "I should have started Moss! No! Sutton! No! Hill! No...". CAB, with his second straight loss, is trying to figure out if a mini fire sale is advantageous - probably not - just not the year to cash in with his players from a production standpoint. DMM and RAF are here after popping up in the MoM for a short while, and are now focusing efforts to attempt one last prayer of a win streak before settling into a Consolation Bracket anti-Toilet King strategy. Here we have Week 8's stench teams...:

(TIU(4-4) ⭐⭐⭐⭐🤺), (DMM (3-5) ⭐🏈🏈), (CAB(5-3)), (JWW (0-8) ⭐), (DNF(2-6) ⭐🤺), and (RAF(3-5)🏈) in order of losing points scored.

DFFL WEEK 8 AWARDS

Tyson Award. Nite, Nite! Thleep Tight!

- NUT (1) gets his first Tyson of the season for an 81 point routing of The "winless" Wonder in Week 8. This also marks the first time this season that a Malt Division team earned this award. CeeDee Lamb had his best game ever with a 41 point showing vs. the LA Rams. AJ Brown had his best game since Week 4, earning 34 points against the Commanders. Finally, Travis Etienne continues to trend well, getting his 2nd best point performance of the year with 31.4. JWW could not keep up, even with great performances from Dicker (K), the Giants Defense and Cole Kmet. Perhaps if Mahomes hadn't underperformed massively versus the Denver Broncos - over 72%, JWW could have prevented a messy NUT explosion. Honorable mention goes to PTS who gored DNF by almost 70 points in Week 8 (69.9).

2023: PTS (2), MTT (1), TMW (2), RAF (2), NUT (1)

Historical: JWW 139.88

Maguire Award. Show me the Money!

- NUT (2) wins a second Maguire of the year, taking home the $30 pot after busting over the 200 point mark for the first time in their season. The Undefeated NUT marks this milestone with a point total of 205.22 points. Surprisingly, Travis Kelce did little to support NUT's win. Franchise player Kelce, only managed 12.8 points (a season worst) versus the Denver Broncos. Honorable mention goest to PTS, who had his second best point total of the year at 188.88. PTS holds the highest score of the year so far at 208.7 in Week 4.

2023: TMW (2), PTS (1), TIU (2), RAF (1), NUT (2)

Historical: DNF 246.5

Cliffhanger Award. By the skin of your teeth and newly discovered hair loss!

- UGG (2) gets this week's Cliffhanger Award with a 10.5 point win over TIU, 167.66 to 157.16. DFFL had it's highest scoring week of 2023, and scores really weren't close. Winners won by a lot, and losers all got over the Century Mark but lost by a large point total. The only close game was between UGG - who brought his A-Game and achieved maximum production based off projected points, and TIU - who has an enviable fantasy team with a QB and WRs that often over excel in production. Out of the 6x "40 Burgers" produced in Week 8, these two teams had 4x of them!! . Now, we can't include the 2x that were on UGG's bench, but still, this is quite unique. Dak Prescott had his best regular season game since Week 16 in 2022. Austin Ekeler didn't explode for the points he typically did in 2022, but he exceeded ever so slightly projected points this week. Chase, Lockett, Cooper and Cooks all went into double digit scoring, which prevented a TIU win with his solid Week 8 scoring.

2023: UGG (1), DNF (1), NUT (3), KED (1), DMM (1)

Historical: “The Tie”’19 (CAB vs RAF); “Halloween Howler.84”’22 (TMW vs NUT)

Meme Award. When your best isn’t good enough, but makes for great jokes!

- RAF (3) follows up his solid showing last week (Maguire, and Tyson) with a face palming Meme this week. RAF stumbled over a Waller and landed on his Ridder this week, putting up a Week 8 low of just 115.44 points. RAF was essentially riding a boom week into what was really an expected bust week. The only positions that scored above expectations were Kamara (RB) and Aubrey (K). Ridder (6.4) was concussed and benched the rest of the game - some might say put out of his misery, while others' would say protected in a no-win game. Also, Waller caught 1 ball and then warmed the bench the rest of the game with a hammy that he claimed he "could have played on." While unlikely RAF would have managed a point comeback with Ridder and Waller to win the match with TMW, its likely he would not have nabbed his 3rd Meme. But, football happens....

2023: MTT (1), DNF (1), UGG (3), RAF (3)

Historical: MTT 55.82 (Wk1/2023), OIE (MTT) 66.04.

Shamrock Award. I found me 4-leaf clover, and though small, I be a winner!

- MTT (1) gets a Shamrock this week with the lowest score among the winning teams in DFFL. He does this with a very respectable 163.46 points! This just highlights the great scoring week DFFL had, and the winning scores winners maintained this week. Very admirable! When losing teams look at the lowest point total winner to see where they might have eked out a win, it is truly demoralizing to see MTT's "low score" of 163 as that "bottom marker". None of the losers would have beat the lowest point total winner this week...None! Keep in mind MTT met expected production totals for this week with only 2 of his starters (Rice and Goedert) getting single digits. Russell Wilson, Jordan Addison, DeVonte Smith, the Kicker McManus and the Vikings DEF all exceeded expected production for MTT. DMM attempted to keep up with Hurts' 40+ Burger, but multiple single digit performances by the likes of Pollard, Adams, Meyers and Warren proved too little to mount any type of comeback on MNF.

2023: UGG (1), CAB (2), KED (2), PTS (2), MTT (1)

Historical: CAB 102.7

TY-SHAM: PTSvsRAF(wk2 138.02).

Red Shirt Award. Starfleet security officer taking one for CAPT Kirk.

- TIU (1) as a result of UGG's exceptional Week 8 performance gets this week's Red Shirt - "Moral Victory" if you will for having the highest score - 157.16 - in a losing effort in Week 8. Note that The Toe would not have beat any winning score total this week, so it's not like they met the worst winner. This was a great week to win, and a crushing week to lose. TIU plays solidly every week and has had only 3 of 8 weeks with a worse scoring total than this week. However, UGG's team kept pace, and then some, and The Toe was ultimately unable to prevent a 3rd straight loss. In the final analysis for Week 8, Ekeler, Chase, Lockett, and Cooper proved too much for TIU's Mostert, Diggs, Moore, and Sutton. Only one player...Taysom Hill....could have prevented this loss for TIU. And that is just a difficult play for anyone who knows fantasy football - who the hell would start Taysom Hill in FLEX over Sutton, Davis or Higgins?? I mean, the only one I'd have started Hill over is Higgins, but Hill over Higgins was never something TIU would have considered.

2023: KED (2), TMW (1), DMM (2), PTS (1), JWW (1), TIU (1)

Historical: NUT 205.10 (Halloween Howler, Oct22)

Mojo Award. “Yeah, Baby!” Best pickup or start/sit decisions.

- TMW (2) gets a second Mojo of the season with his solid start of DeAndre Hopkins (32.8) playing for a rookie QB against a tough Atlanta Defense. As the game continued to show the unpredictable yet outstanding chemistry between DHop and rookie, 1st time starter, QB Will Levis, I had to check TMW's lineup, thinking, "no way Steve would start DHop with a new and untested rookie QB!" In fact, he had. Now, before anyone says, "well what choice did he have??" TMW could have activated a very productive Detroit TE Sam LaPorta for a week of providing points for The Watts in the FLEX. I mean, DHop had only one solid fantasy week before Week 8's pointsplosion; that was against an inviting Indianapolis secondary. Meanwhile, Sam LaPorta is the #5 TE with 5 of 7 weeks in double-digits. Honorable mention goes to KED for playing - believe it or not - Joe Mixon, who had underperformed expectations every week of the season, against the San Francisco 49ers Defense. Joe Mixon had his best game of the season with 23.5 points.

2023: JWW (2), DMM (1), RAF (1), MTT (2), TMW (2)

Noonan Award. "Best Ball Award"..nana nana naaa!

- TIU (3) gets a Noonan Award in Week 8 for being the only team with a benched player who coulda, shoulda, woulda tipped the point total enough to garner a win for The Toe. That player, as highlighted in the Red Shirt write-up, is QB/TE Taysom Hill (26.46). Had TIU benched Higgins, who was not had a good game this year - constant underachiever, in favor of T. Hill would have squeaked a win past UGG by 2.56 points! Tee Higgins (WR) has underachieved production by over 50% for the year! That includes 3 straight weeks where he managed only 4 points of production. Week 1, Tee got 0, and only in Week 2 did he exceed production with a 29 point performance. Meanwhile, Taysom Hill (QB/TE) has exceeded Tee's yearly point total of 54 points in just the past 3 weeks, alone (54.03)!

2023: MTT (1), JWW (2), TMW (1), DMM (1) TIU (3)

Deck Chairs Award. First Class or Steerage? All equally suck on Titanic!

- JWW (2) earns a second Deck Chair Award in his dismal, forgettable DFFL 2023 Season, for the waiver wire pick up of Minnesota WR Brandon Powell earlier this week. The "winless" Wonder perused the Dollar Store, aka DFFL waiver wire, and set his sights on an old purple and gold wicker-styled chair with horns. Happy with the purchase, JWW gleefully - like the Father with his "leg lamp" in the window from, A Christmas Story - placed the chair on the bridge of USS Wonder. Frustratingly, USS Wonder got Hubbard' by Mahomes with no Pickens from crew members Thomas or Harris. The end result, a floundering in the sea of Fantasy Failures...glub...glub...glub.

2023: DMM (1), UGG (1), RAF (2), DNF (2), CAB (1), TMW (1), JWW (2)

Tick - Tock - Tick - Tock...the Season hath got out of hand for some, yet for others it's just getting started. We arrive at the point where the 4 and 5 win teams jockey to compete for playoff seeding, and the 3 and under teams get a new hobby.
