** Game of the Week **
CAB (5-2) versus KED (4-3)
SLEEPER PROJECTION - CAB WINS 180 to 173!
Two teams vying for their respective division leads and / or playoff seeding meet in this 3 time Champion Hops Division meets "No SOUP for YOU!!" Malt Division. The QB matchup is favorable for each with a slight lead for KED. The RB position favors CAB, as Hall is a baller and Walker is facing the #1 Defense in the NFL - kinda hurt. Not good for KED. CAB wins with the WR slot, maybe by as much as 30 points. KED is hurt by Kittle's on again off again production - he's due a dud this week. Finally, the FLEX position is a bit of a wash, as CAB's dudes, except KUPP, are underperforming and KED has to boom possible candidates in Shaheed and Hollywood. The Ds and Ks cancel each other out, and CAB comes out on top by 5 points. DFFL PROJECTION - CAB 150 - KED 145
MTT (3-4) versus DMM ((3-4)
SLEEPER PROJECTION - DMM WINS 167 to 163!
A Hops Division competitor goes up against a potential Barley Division Leader in this MUST win for both. The QB position is a solid strength for The Millionaires, as Hurts may get a 40 burger this matchup in DC. DangerRuss is going up against a tough KC defense, and this could get ugly for the shell-shocked QB. I have to give MTT the favorite on the RB position, since Pollard has been underperforming terribly at his position...terrible! DMM has a ton of solid strength at WR, and MTT NEEDS Smith and Scary Terry to ball, big time. I think they do this, and beat DMM in the WR slots by 10 points. MTT wins the TE matchup, and this is terrible for DMM - as it's Hurt's TE Goedert who is gonna get 70 yds and a TD in this game. Musgrave isn't 100% and that's a shame. The FLEX is a bit of a wash between the two teams, but I think Addison gets another 30+ point game - it just seems right to me. The Ds and Ks won't make a difference in this game as MTT clears a hurdle, and makes PTS and CAB nervous... DFFL PROJECTION - MTT 148 - DMM 138
DNF (2-5) versus PTS (5-2)
SLEEPER PROJECTION - PTS WINS 199 to 171!
Sadly, this could have been one of the games of the 2023 season! An up and comer, PTS, showing up in the ring to take on perennial DFFL regular season juggernaut, DNF. I'm afraid the records highlight a change at the top of DFFL in terms of "scary teams" in October - PTS is horrifying to face right now! At QB, DNF showcases his original franchise favorite in Trevor Lawrence against a horribly shaken Lions QB, Jared Goff. Goff has a cake matchup in a "get right" game against a team who will most likely lose their coach next season, RAIDERS. PTS wins this position by 10 Points. TAYLOR versus CMC at the RB slot!! Fireworks Folks!! Eh, not really...Taylor faces the Saints - tough - and CMC faces Cincy. It's gonna be all CMC in this Darnold offense, PTS wins the RB slot by 10 points. Favorable matchups for DNF's WRs will give them the edge over PTS by around 10-20 points. BOOM POSSIBLE for Aiyuk under Darnold, but I like London against Tennessee's Defense. Tough matches with the TE slot, but DNF wins with Hock getting 20+ points and Engram ceding catches to Kirk and Etienne. The FLEX for both teams aint pretty. Does Sanders and Pierce make a comeback?? They haven't gotten close to expectations all season and Pierce is failing to play in the pass game - huge for Houston. Metcalf and Nacua have big games and one gets a 40 burger in this game. Ds and Ks even out and do nothing for the trajectory of this game...DFFL PROJECTION - PTS 140 - DNF 105
RAF (3-4) versus TMW (4-3)
SLEEPER PROJECTION - TMW WINS 192 to 155!
Ahhh...here we are at the rematch of the 2022 DFFL RANT BOWL! As I recall, RAF beat the batteries out of The Watts and moved on in the '22 Playoffs. Interestingly, these two teams aren't too far apart when it comes to record, yet miles away when it comes to production potential and player talent. TMW needs this win to stay atop Barley, and RAF is playing to exercise his savvy abilities to find a starting lineup that exceeds projections. At QB, RAF is going with his future franchise QB, Ridder, and TMW is letting lose his Top 5er in Tua Tagovailoa. The matchup hugely favors TMW, but RAF is hoping for a better than expected game from Ridder. Tua gets stymied a bit in NE, but still wins the position by 10 points. The RB position favors RAF with Kamara going against Indy's Defense in an offense that is going to lean on Kamara for offensive continuity. King Henry is a baller, but going against 'Lanta's Defense is not a march through Houston, I'm afraid. RAF wins the position by 10 points. TMW crushes RAF at WR, as Allen gets a 40 Burger in the game against Chicago. At TE, RAF wins by 5 points with Waller coming on strong in the mid season, while Andrews is facing solid competition with receivers. FLEX almost evens out as Foreman and Palmer have big games and Collins faces stiff competition in Carolina. TMW still wins FLEX by a lot. Ds and Ks even out and don't make a difference in this game....DFFL PROJECTION - TMW 170 - RAF 140.
TIU (4-3) versus UGG (2-5)
SLEEPER PROJECTION - TIU WINS 178 to 165!
Here is another matchup that should have been a "game of the week" type heading into the 2023 season. UGG and TIU tend to stay atop the competition, particularly UGG. It's hard times however for the typical DFFL point producers, and UGG is not immune to the tough sledding. After getting schwacked liked like a science dork in a football locker room by the RAF in Week 7, he's trying for some pride points this week. UGG is an important franchise in DFFL! At QB TIU is bringing his Top 5er in Josh Allen versus UGG's "play better" Dak Prescott. Dak is coming off a BYE and looking to put up some points against the Rams. TIU wins this category by 5 points. UGG gets the game he wanted last week with Ekeler, and Ekeler pulls in a 30+ point game at home vs Chi's Defense. Mattison cedes more work to Akers, and TIU loses the RB slot by 20 points. At WR, both teams have the necessary talent to battle. UGG wins this one as a result of Chase's 40+ points against a Defense that is struggling to find their mojo after two losses. I don't like Moore without Fields - Bagent is solid, but I hate the hype. At TE, Henry has been underproducing and that doesn't change, TIU is stronger with Kincaid. UGG outduels TIU at FLEX with solid games from Cooper and Jones. TIU gets a solid game from Davis but Mostert and Higgins don't meet projections. Here the D's and Ks make a difference as TIU does 10 points better in the matchups. TIU squeaks by and gives The Watts headaches....DFFL PROJECTION - TIU 160 - UGG 155
** SHOCKER OF THE WEEK **
JWW (0-7) versus NUT (8-0)
SLEEPER PROJECTION NUT WINS 210 to 160!
Okay...hear me out! I know that we are all giving up JWW for dead, as we ridicule his record, call him WINLESS WONDER, and mock his rules changes as an obvious attempt to give him something to feel good about, "but, but..I have the 1st pick!...sniff sniff". This is the kind of game that should scare NUT. His matchups at RB and FLEX are not ideal...Bijan is ceding work to Allgeier and Coach Smith is going on morning TV laughing about it. Lamb is going against a man's defense with the Rams, and he's only really had 2 good games all season. Herbert is probably gonna be bleh against Chicago, as I see Cousins the better play in a divisional match. On the other side, Mahomes has a floor of 30 points versus Denver and could very well nab another 50 burger - don't see it, but its possible. Harris at RB, Mike Thomas and Pickens in the WR slots are all on the uptrend. Hubbard is wayyyy better than Sanders (washed up dude), and will be leaned on by Carolina versus Houston's bad run defense. Kmet could actually do better than Kelce, though I doubt it. I think NUT wins this position easily! Here's the kicker....NUT's Hunt and Barkley fall flat as JWW finally gets a win and shocks the world...DFFL PROJECTION - JWW 145 - NUT 142
Does JWW Get a Win vs. NUT?
0%Hell NO!! RAF is taking too many drugs, if he things that!
0%Hmmmm...RAF could be onto something, but naw...I doubt it.
0%RAF is a predictive genius!! He's spot on!
